Polished Concrete Log Holder

We completed this project at the beginning of 2014. Our client came to us with a simple brief – she wanted a contemporary item of furniture to be used primarily to store logs for a wood-burning stove but also to function as a side table. It had to incorporate polished concrete (obviously!) and have an element of timber to match the stored logs.

This is what we came up with and our client loves it! We’ve yet to take photos in the final destination but these are a few we took in our workshop.

Concrete Hearth

One of our recent projects was for a client who wanted to make a feature from a defunct fireplace, giving a modern twist but with a warmth that is associated with an open fire.

We built quite a wide hearth to ‘open up’ the small(ish) chimney opening and used a larger aggregate material so that warm brown tones would come through to the face once polished.

Concrete Topped Sideboard

The brief for this project was to produce a simple slab of grey concrete to sit on top of high gloss white cabinets. We persuaded the client to go for something a bit different and we introduced mulberry-coloured glass aggregates into the design.

When polished the concrete was beautifully smooth and the glass caught the light and reflected it, creating a fantastic contrast between the two materials.
